My Story

I started college majoring in Journalism with a emphasis in photography. The plan was to graduate and go to work as a photographer for National Geographic. That lasted about a year before my advisors convinced me change majors to focus on something, "to actually earn a living." Still, I managed to slip in various side classes to learn darkroom techniques, layout, design, composition, and work with different camera formats (I loved large-format cameras).
After graduating with a degree that didn't excite me, I entered the workforce and was saved by personal computers. I developed a knack for programming, and a chance conversation around a campfire led me to a lifelong career as a computer programmer and database administrator.
Eventually, the opportunity for early retirement came and I took it. About that same time I was on vacation with a friend who is a photographer, and with his encouragement, here I am.
The equipment has radically changed and the days of film and darkrooms have (mostly) passed, but my love for capturing nature and wildlife is just as strong as it ever was.
Thank you for stopping by.
